Results Analysis

For this task we gathered results from our questionnaires to give us information about college magazines and what students are looking for within them. The results show that 26% of students said that they’d like to see music within the magazine, using this information when creating our own college magazine will give us a larger selling point. However maybe we should try to avoid or give a smaller amount of information about the college itself and fashion, as they were both around about 10% being the lowest. Linking this with the article lengths we see that most students want to see medium sized articles which seems suitable. When thinking about the colour scheme of the magazine the results show us that the top two colours that students would like to see are blue and purple, this suggests that maybe previous college magazines that they’ve seen may have not been as bright and colourful which is maybe what students enjoy seeing. An important thing that we have to think about is how much we should sell the magazine for, this has to be a reasonable price which supports how often the issues are released.  19 out of the 40 students that we asked said that they’d pay £0.50 for a magazine on the other hand 16 students said that they’d pay £1.00 for a college magazine. As these numbers are quite close it all depends on how often these magazines get released. Looking at the results we can see that the majority of students want to see the issues per fortnight, so £0.50 seems like a decent price. We asked the students what form they would like the magazines to be presented, whether they are in original magazine form or uploaded online or both. A large amount of students wanted to keep to the original and have it magazine based. This can maybe suggest that there’re not enough college magazines available to hand anymore. Within the magazines, we asked the students if they’d like to receive vouchers and if they could have the opportunity to enter competitions. A huge 77% of students said that they would like to receive vouchers however its about 50/50 on if they want to enter competitions. Overall if we use this information that we have gathered and put it into our college magazines we should get a good outcome.
