Technologies

At the start of producing my magazine products, I was introduced to Photoshop for the first time. Over the duration of designing and producing my products I believe that my Photoshop skills have developed and improved. I have discovered different kinds of techniques and tools that have helped my products to look more professional and neat. I think that the most useful tools that I learnt about was using different brush shapes, sizes and hardness and finding out how to arrange, size and change the gapping of text.  As well as learning about the various tools and how to use them, I also discovered different shortcuts to use the tools. This then made the process a lot smoother, quicker and easier. Also discovering that you can use rulers and guidelines made a huge impact on my work. When it comes to the layout of magazines things must be in line, balanced and symmetrical in places. The rulers and guidelines helped me to achieve these high standards. Something that took time for me to get used to was using layers in Photoshop. At first I found it very difficult to understand how and why it works, however once I began using Photoshop frequently it all began to fall in place and I got to grips with it. As I am a photography student, when it came to taking the photos, my knowledge came in handy. I was able to take photos and think about the composition, rule of thirds, lighting and background information.
